HMDEG is a searchable
database for Human and Mouse Differentially Expressed Genes for
easy query of genes that are differentilally expressed in specific
tissues as determined by a statistical analysis of EST (expressed
sequence tags) database (dbEST). We have organized the EST libraries
into hierarchical tissue classes and identified preferentially expressed
genes in 157 human and 108 mouse tissues/organs, from more than
8 million EST, characterized by their significantly different amount
of transcripts observed between tissues.
Query
differentially expressed genes of human or mouse
In
this site, user can browse tissue-specific genes of human or mouse
by selecting tissue and diseased sate, or query expression profile
for genes in interest on the "Query" page. The
default p value is set on 0.05 and can be set lower;
for tissue-pecific genes, 90% are expressed
in no more than 3 tissues as p<0.000001.
Search
tissue-specific orthologous genes
Further,
we comparatively analyzed expression profiles between 7854
orthologous pairs of human and mouse in 94 human and 99
mouse normal tissues. The tissue-specific orthologous genes are
also available for query on the "Ortholog" page.
