reconfigure helix layout
Introduction:

VHMPT allows users to midify the layout of helices, including the space between two helices, the size of an amino acid (in one-letter code or circle representation), the space between two successive amino acids, and the height of a helix turn.

Description:
Select Edit/Helix layout to open the helix layout dialog box (Fig. 10).

Fig. 10.

This dialog box contains four parameters (with their default values in parenthesis) which could be used to change the helix layout. You can change any one of them by dragging the scale bar and then choose OK.
Fig. 11 shows the corresponding helix layout parameters that these four parameters will change (all are measured in pixels).

P1: space between successive helixes (default is 30),
P2: residue size (default is 10),
P3: space between residues (default is 5),
P4: height of a helix turn (default is 30).

Unequally spacing between successive helices is also allowed. This can be done by dragging a helix (outlined in  blue rectangle) to change the spacing between two helices. For example, Fig. 12 is a result of helix V being  dragged to the right to increase its spacing with helix IV.
